Why we price the way we do

The studio started with a quote. After a death in the family, one of us wanted a painted portrait and was priced out of it — not by the painting, but by everything around the painting: the gallery, the marketplace, the advertising. The work itself, done by a skilled painter at a fair hourly rate, did not cost what was being charged.

So we built a studio that prices by the work: by size, number of subjects and level of detail, not by an artist's name or a market's willingness to pay. We do not think a hand-painted portrait should be a luxury good, and we structured the studio so it does not have to be — our own painters, no marketplace commission, no paid advertising, no gallery or retail layer, and shipping compared on every order.

What we do

We paint portraits by hand, from photographs: dogs, cats, horses and other animals, and people. Most of our work is for the trade — designers, frame shops, photographers, memorial services, galleries and online sellers — who order from one piece at trade pricing and sell the paintings as their own. Private commissions are welcome and are painted by the same painters through the same process.

What we do not do

We do not publish our painters' names or faces; that is their preference and the work is the proof. We do not print, trace or use AI at any stage. We do not publish prices, so our trade partners' margins are protected. We do not promise delivery days we cannot control. And we do not advertise — if you found us, it was through a partner, a recommendation, or a search you made yourself.
