House Portraits — Your Home, Hand-Painted From a Photograph
We paint houses by hand from your photograph — a family home before it is sold, an estate, a farm, a first house, a shopfront — with the architecture drawn accurately and the light chosen to suit the building.

A house portrait is a portrait: the building has proportions the owner knows by heart, and getting the roofline, the window spacing and the door right matters more than any flourish. We draw the architecture from your photograph, measuring the façade at the sketch stage, and only then decide the light, the season and how much garden to include.
What people commission
The family home before it is sold. The first house. A farm that is changing hands after three generations. A grandparent’s house that has already gone. A shopfront or a restaurant, for the wall behind the till. Estate agents and builders order them as closing gifts — the keys, and a painting of the house.
What gets left out
Parked cars, bins, satellite dishes, overhead cables and the neighbour’s extension are routinely removed; they are in the photograph but not in the memory. What stays is whatever you tell us matters: the dog on the step, the swing, the flag, the rose that grew over the porch. If a tree has since come down, or the door used to be a different colour, we can paint the house as it was.
Light and season
The most-requested version is dusk with the windows lit — it turns a building into a home. A summer photo can be painted in autumn colour, or under snow. Tell us the season the house means to you.
Mediums and sizes
A landscape canvas suits most buildings. Acrylic is the default; oil when a closing date is close; watercolour gives a lighter, more architectural look on paper and ships flat. Prices are set by size, detail level and medium, and trade buyers — agents, designers, framers — order from one piece — a single closing gift, or a set for a development.

House portraits FAQ
Can you paint the house as it was, not as it is now?
Yes. From an old photograph, or from a current photo with changes you describe — the tree that came down, the porch that was replaced, the original colour of the door. Tell us at the quote stage and we confirm it on the proof.
Can you leave out the cars, the bins and the neighbour's extension?
Yes. Parked cars, wheelie bins, cables and neighbouring buildings are routinely left out. Anything you want kept — the dog on the step, the swing in the garden — stays.
Can the season or the time of day be changed?
Yes. A summer photo can be painted in autumn colour, or at dusk with the windows lit. Lit windows at blue hour is the most-requested version for closing gifts.
Do estate agents and builders order these?
Yes, as closing gifts. Trade pricing applies from one piece, and the parcel carries your branding or none, so it arrives as the agency's gift rather than the studio's.
Can I order a single piece at trade pricing for a client?
Yes. Trade pricing starts from a single piece, and a project — a series for one interior, or a standing monthly order — is quoted the same way. Request the trade price list from the trade page.
