Custom Farm & Other Animal Portraits, Hand-Painted From Your Photo

We paint farm and working animals by hand from your photo — highland cows, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, alpacas, donkeys, chickens and camels.

Farm animal portraits have become some of the most popular wall art in the last few years — a highland cow over a sofa is now a classic — and farm owners, smallholders and homestead businesses commission portraits of their own animals. Camel portraits serve clients in the Gulf, where racing and show camels are prized.

How we paint animals

What matters on the canvas

Character, not livestock

These portraits work when the animal has the same dignity as a dog portrait: eye contact, a considered crop, a background that does not distract. We paint the individual — the crooked horn, the notched ear, the particular curl of a fleece.

Hair, fleece and hide

A highland cow's long coat is painted in sweeping layered strokes from the undercoat up; a sheep's fleece as clustered soft masses; a pig's hide as skin with sparse bristle catching the light; a camel's coat as short, dense texture over strong bone structure.

Photo tips

Photographing animals for a portrait

  • Photograph at the animal's eye level in soft light — early morning in the field is ideal.
  • For cows and horses, a slight three-quarter angle shows the face and the body.
  • Get close enough that the eye is sharp; a long lens or a slow approach both work.

Farm & other animals portrait FAQ

Do you paint highland cows and other animals as decor without a specific animal?

Yes. Decor pieces — a highland cow, a group of hens, a ram — can be painted from reference photos you supply or from our own references. Interior designers and gift shops order these at trade pricing from one piece.

Can you paint a camel portrait for a client in the UAE or Qatar?

Yes. Camel, Arabian horse and falcon portraits are painted from the owner's photos and shipped direct to the Gulf. Head studies and full-body standing portraits are both common.

Do you paint from a phone photo?

Yes, as long as it is the original file rather than a screenshot or a photo of a photo. Sharp eyes and even light matter more than the camera. Send it and we will confirm whether it will work.

Can I order a single piece at trade pricing for a client?

Yes. Trade pricing starts from a single piece, and a project — a series for one interior, or a standing monthly order — is quoted the same way. Request the trade price list from the trade page.
